A bit of a longer episode, this is yet another in the ongoing saga that is Planet X. A lot of the basic claims about Planet X itself, by Mark Hazlewood, are very similar to those made by Nancy Lieder. However, the narrative that Mark tells is interesting in and of itself, and that’s what I focus on in this episode. Especially on the conspiracy aspects and the level of evidence that Mark considers trustworthy.

This episode was written and recorded a few days early so that I could put it out whilst I’m at TAM … as in, now.

The next episode will probably be about young-Earth creationists’ contention that the speed of light changes — it’s one of the main methods they use to argue that the universe can be young in light of modern cosmology. The next episode was originally going to be about the claims of David Serida, but, that is going to have a lot of Coast to Coast AM clips, and since the last two episodes (including this) have a lot of C2C clips, I figured I would give y’all a break. At least for one episode.

Podcast #76: Nancy Lieder’s Astronomy Clip Show

This is a clip show about several of Nancy Lieder’s astronomy claims. If that name sounds a bit familiar but you can’t place it, she’s the gal who predicted that Planet X would arrive in May 2003. Didn’t work out so well for her then. These are a few non-PX-related claims.

The episode’s a teensy bit shorter than normal, around 25 minutes. I’m working on 3 papers and 3 grants all due in about two weeks. Sigh. There’s a bit of feedback, no Q&A, no Puzzler, but two announcements:

1. As TAM approacheth, a meetup is possibly being planned. Right, now, it’s looking like probably Saturday around dinnertime. There’s a break between the last session beginning 6:15 and the next evening show at 9:00, so some time in there. I’ll bring candied nuts or something, provided that the Colorado people don’t eat them all before Saturday. I’m going to try to bring my microphone, the idea of the meetup being sorta a discussion about the bad…. err, pseudoastronomy topics and maybe some questions betwixt me and yous. More details forthcoming, but in the meantime, let me know if you think you’re interested and will be able to come. I’ll be selling free tickets to the event.

2. The next episode will be on 2012 back-peddling. I’m still looking for some really good examples of retrodicting. Most of what I’ve found is crickets. If you have examples you’ve seen, especially from the big folks like John Major Jenkins or Brent Miller, please send them in.

Podcast Episode #51: The Fake Story of Planet X, Part 4 (Nancy Lieder)

Episode 2 of 2 for September is now posted, another in the series on the Fake Story of Planet X, this time the the saga of Nancy Lieder from 2003.

Yes, it’s an older case by over a decade, and very, very few people still take Nancy and her ZetaTalk site seriously.

But, I think it’s important for the sake of “complete” coverage of the Planet X phenomenon, of which she has been a major part. I also think that it’s informative of what’s going on today with doomsday ideas related to Planet X and 2012: The same crap that she spouted back then for the pole shift she said would happen in 2003, people are still using today for 2012.
