Podcast Episode 119: The Norway Spiral

The Norway Spiral
Is now a catch-all for lots
Of diff’rent ideas.

The long-expected but -delayed Norway Spiral episode is out. It has a little bit for everyone, nearly 5 minutes of Richard Hoagland, and I leave you to make up your own mind in the end.

  1. Your description of hyperdimensional physics is spot on. As for Richard Hoagland and consistency — during the Elenin débacle a Faceboo participant remarked that RCH was being inconsistent, using GMT to derive a 19.5 for one event, but using the Sri Lankan time zone to derive the Sept 11 date. Hoagland replied “Have you ever heard the expression ‘consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds’?”

    • Hoagland shouldn’t be the one throwing that term around.

    • Conspiracy theorists generally don’t bother with consistency as long as their ‘broader picture’ seems consistent to the audience. Just look at all the 9/11 documentaries, especially the various ‘editions’ of Loose Change, the only consistent thing in them is the idea that the ‘government version is wrong’.

I have heard that presentations at conspriacy theory conferences are often quasi-interactive with the speaker giving a stream-of-consciousness talk that the audience turns into a coherent picture, that the speaker then claims is what they were saying all along. Rather like mediums.

  2. Thanks for the update on this. The simpler explanation here, that it was a failed Russian missile, was where the evidence pointed. Trying to get anything more out of it feels like folks just making stuff up to tell a story, because the real version sounded too boring.

By the way, I’d like you to keep the Q&A as part of your show, and maybe something about astronomical/geophysical news, even if it’s a follow-up on something that happened a while ago. Since there are now pay walls to access web pages some of the more esoteric radio shows and what-not, it’s a bit more difficult to listen to the major proponents being interviewed. I really appreciate you reporting on what these folks have to say.
